Typical day for me

Hello I'm Anna and I'd like to tell you what life is like today in the year 2011 for a woman who was born in the seventies.  I'd like to start by saying that the things that I have had to learn throughout my life is a bit overwhelming in order to keep up with the latest while continuing the necessary daily tasks of motherhood.  There is little time for me although I demand it at times. Time does not stop to let me take a breath of air.  Between taking classes, meeting my families basic needs, searching for a job or maintaining a sense of knowlege in technology and wanting to maintain friendships from the past, I have little time.  It seems odd to say this to myself considering the fact that technology was supposed to save time.  I'm overwhelmed with media to say the least and I'd like to escape into another place.  I'm a mother who knows how important privacy is and peace and quiet and yet it is impossible to give this to my children because I grew up in a world apart from them.  I grew up with books, a bicycle, trees to climb, cooking, sewing, tv sitcoms, crafts, color books,  family vacations and hand written homework.  I got plenty of sleep and only so many people knew me.  Life was private and peaceful.  Friends were down the street and I got plenty of sleep at night.  I loved God, knew bible verses and lots of fun songs that I would sing in school and church.  Motherhood today is a mind blowing task full of surprises and challenging as can be.

  1. I'm overwhelmed with media to say the least and I'd like to escape into another place...escaping is so easy for me Anna. I know what escaping is, although knowing how to do it and wanting to be able to do so for you may be difficult with all the personal demands of your home life. I have a husband, but no children to speak of. I have a golden retriever and she is nine years old. I have a very quiet life. I live out in the country in unincorporated Canton and have a 30115 address still after just moving six miles away from another home in which I lived there with my hubby and dog for two years. Let's hope this is a long=-term home. I am in the middle of a restoration project on this home and will continue to. I am trying to find work and I get overwhelmed by computers and the technology needed on these resumes. I do not have all the techy stuff on it. I am a simple housewife going back to school and have an undergraduate degree in social work. I was born in 1973 and things were just as you mentioned "peaceful". Life is peaceful now also, but with going to school and trying to be a spouse, a student, a worker, and stay in touch with other family and friends is difficult and can seem overwhelming to say the least. I am really looking forward to reading your blog and keeping up with a girl that has lived in the 70s with its' ups & downs...thanks, Paulette Penn
